WHAT IS FENG SHUI?
Feng Shui (pronounced "fung shway") means "Wind and Water".  Feng Shui has been used in China and the Far East for Thousands of years.  It is rapidly becoming a standard practice for creating the ideal environment in which to live and work.   It helps us interpret our environment, its affect on us and ours on it.  It works because it's the way of the universe and everything contained within it.  Our understanding of this brings us closer to nature, the closer we get to a natural form of life the better balanced our lives become, this is the real meaning of harmony.  Properly applied, Feng Shui recommendations can result in improvements in the life of the individuals who occupy the property.  "Chi", which is literally translated as energy - is an invisible energy that circulates through our surrounding and senses. The practice of Feng Shui is about harnessing that vital force to maximize the positive effect that "Chi" holds.

Many large businesses such as Chase Asia, the offices of The Wall Street Journal, The Hong Kong Bank, Shanghai Bank, and Morgan Bank have used Feng Shui to improve their business and harmony within the business world.

Properly applied, Feng Shui uses only the five elements of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water to create harmony and balance.

The Basic Philosophy To Feng Shui Contains Three Principles:
     1. Everything Is Alive
  2. All Is Interconnected
  3. Everything Is Changing

THREE MAIN SCHOOLS OF FENG SHUI:
(1)  COMPASS SCHOOL or FLYING STAR FENG SHUI:
The Compass School, so named because of the need for a "compass" and directions. This style of Feng Shui uses the Eight Trigrams of the I Ching and relates them to the eight points of the Compass. These are laid out to form the eight-sided Pa Kua which is used to interpret the Auspicious and Inauspicious locations for Buildings, House Floor Plans and Room Layouts.  The absence of geographical and geological features and the relative flat topography of northern China necessitated the development of the Compass School, which dominates throughout most of the world. This is the traditional, classical Feng Shui practice that uses either a Chinese (luo pan) or Western-style compass to determine the directional use of the Ba' Gua map for discernment in your room, office or home. Because those directions govern various aspects of your life, you place the corresponding colors, animal symbols, numbers, and elements in the areas that you wish to activate.

(2)  BLACK HAT SECT SCHOOL or BAGUA SCHOOL:
This is a modern version of Feng Shui developed in the USA as a hybrid of Tibetan Buddhism, Taoism and traditional Feng Shui. In this school a Pa Kua (often called the BaGua) is used, but it is based on the direction of the Front Door, rather than the Compass directions. The Bagua is a template designed to enable us to encourage beneficial CHI to flow freely through our homes.  The Bagua helps to divide the The House or Room into eight sectors, each one having a bearing on an aspect of life that might need enhancing.  CLICK HERE TO GO INTO MORE DETAIL ABOUT THE BAGUA. THIS SCHOOL OF FENG SHUI IS WHAT THIS SITE WILL MAINLY BE FOCUSING ON.

(3)  FORM SCHOOL:
The Landform school is thought to be the oldest aspect of Feng Shui.  This school focuses on the landscape contours, along with the shapes of hills and watercourses.  It is concerned with the auspicious positioning of buildings and burial sites, which require the hills to provide protection from the wind (Feng), and for the provision of a good water (Shui) supply without flooding.

The main concerns within the Form School are to find auspicious landforms:   Many thousands of years ago wealthy homeowners would higher "surveyors to help them locate the best position to place a home.  Certain animals were used to help bring wealth and prosperity and other good fortune they were seeking.  The Black Tortoise was found at the back of the house-this can now be a wall or a garden at the back of the house.  A White Tiger and a Green Dragon were located on the sides of the house-this can now be houses and fences.  A Phoenix would be located at the front of the house-this can be a gentle downward slope or a bush at the front of the house.  These are found by looking at the contours of the hills surrounding a site, and determining whether their layout will bring good or bad luck.

THE TAO OF POOH
One of the world's great Taoist masters isn't Chinese, or a venerable philosopher, but is in fact none other than A. A. Milne's effortlessly calm, still, reflective bear Winnie-the-Pooh. While Eeyore frets and Piglet hesitates and Rabbit calculates and Owl pontificates, Pooh just is. And that's the clue to the secret wisdom of the Taoists...

POOH'S LITTLE BOOK OF FENG SHUI
Feng shui, the 4,000-year-old Chinese art of living in harmony with one's environment, has come to the Hundred Acre Wood! Now Pooh and company put these traditions to use to bring even more perfect balance to life in the Forest. Tigger's bouncing welcomes the dragon's life breath into one's home, bringing opportunities and good fortune. Piglet's violets are carefully placed at the east and southeast sides of his house, thus ensuring good health. As for Pooh, good fortune comes in the form of a honey jar (a full one, if you please). And he knows that positioning the pot in just the right place will bring balance to--well, to Pooh!
